Making Connections

It’s no secret that the real estate market is heating up in Northwest Indiana right now. For buyers and sellers, it can be difficult to know how to start the process and ensure a worthwhile experience. We spoke with agent/broker Annette Fields, owner of Crown Executive Realty, about the current market and about her expertise in particular.

What made you choose to get into real estate?

In 2012, my family and I relocated to Crown Point, Indiana. I had been in retail for over 30 years and was ready for a change. I felt like I was called to real estate and believed that my extensive background in customer service would help those looking for guidance in the real estate market.

How long have you been in real estate?

I've been a real estate agent/broker/owner since 2012, but I’ve been in the real estate market for 20+ years.

What would you say is your specialty? Why do clients choose to work with you specifically?

I am a military relocation professional, but also work with all types of buyers, sellers and investors. I hope my clients choose me because I am down-to-earth, positive and knowledgeable. I listen to their wants and needs and help guide them through the real estate process because I genuinely care.

What advice do you have for people looking to buy and sell a home right now?

Have a list of all your wants and needs and be active in the home search. If you’re selling, declutter. We can sell your home faster and for a better price when potential buyers are able to see the space.

What is the real estate climate like in NWI right now? Do you anticipate that changing or staying the same for a while?

Unlike the weather, it's starting to heat up. If you're looking to buy, let's get started now. There are more people looking for homes than what is on the market. If you're ready to sell, let's get you listed. Since we're headed into the busiest season for real estate, I believe we will stay steady for a while.

What do you like most about Northwest Indiana? How do you promote this region, both personally and as a real estate agent?

The friendly people and unique small businesses. I opened Crown Executive Realty almost two years ago. As a small business owner myself, I understand how important connections are. I wanted to help out my fellow small business owners and started the Facebook page "We Shop Crown Point—NWI." For over a year now, we've been sharing posts of local small businesses here in Crown Point. If you want to see what their specials and events are, please follow the page. These amazing business owners have so much to offer. We have showcased over 180 small businesses and I would like to expand to other areas. When I have a client who wants to know about Crown Point, I'm able to tell them where to go for unique gifts, coffee, food and entertainment. I love that about being a real estate agent.
